A wedding gift.....

Last year we attended a really fun wedding...just as the couple wanted it to be. The dilemma for me is always buying the perfect gift. I looked at my stock and realised I had a perfect album, so decided to fill it with 20 layouts (I made in a weekend) that they could show a few of their favourite photos to friends and family fairly soon after the event......

Here's some of the LO's without photos and then with pics, using the gorgeous Teresa Collins range Mr & Mrs.......

It is possible to do in a weekend ladies! To make it easy for the Bride, I gave her a list typed in a script font on gorgeous cardstock in a special envelope, of the photo requirements for her to choose and then I would add these to the LO's for them. This included the photos size eg 6x4 or 5x7 and if I needed to crop it, the quantity for the various parts of the day...eg their vows, at the reception, getting ready etc. This meant she had in the album the photos they had chosen and it was a mini story of the event from the beginning to the end.....it worked out to be the perfect gift, without me going shopping!

Scrapbooking most of the weekend.....

How was your weekend? Mine was great...Trish I had set aside this past weekend to get wedding projects started. She had her daughter's wedding album to start, I had one to put together for a wedding gift. Trish has 21 LO's finished, or ready for embellishing and some started that she wants to chat with her daughter about........amazing!! I have 14 LO's finished plus one nearly completed....had hoped for 20 for the album but I'm nearly there!

We used the new Pearl glimmermist to make our own black & white bling cardstock, and of course the Irredescent gold was another favourite on flowers etc.....

I have decided I really like working with a set of themed papers like this for an album.....might have to do this a little more often. It certainly makes choices easier, scraps can be used up like the LO in the 2nd photo...cut into 2" or 4" squares set into a double mat with photos inbetween. The one I am currently working on are 2" squares & then I will set a black photo mat of top of it again....

Get some girlfriends together and set aside time to do a special project...it is really worthwhile. Thanks Trish for a great weekend!

And there is still stock left over from the 6 Layout kit to make another couple!! We all learnt what really good value using sticker sheets and hand-cutting papers up to use on cardstock, was.

 

 

4 more completed!

Loving this being on a roll! I have 6 more LO's finished (total of 14 in 5 part days) and a garden journal ready for binding for the Picton class for this month. It's been busy with some really late nights however I now have Leon's almost finished....and next week put aside to finish Nao's.

 
It's been quite fun to do simple for a change....and I am so used to adding more & more that I now feel I should do that with each layout. Seeing all these together as a whole has made me realise it's OK to say this is enough, for a change.

The LO on the top right is based on one of Kathie Link's.....I was faced with these dark photos and just couldn't find the right papers, so went looking at some websites.....she used the 7Gypsies papers this way and I thought this is perfect with a few hand made flowers. I have put the rest of the LO together a little differently to her's, but thanks to Kathie she got me started!

 

Layout for Picton this weekend......

This layout went together really well after initially wondering how I would incorporate black lettering with the BG Hopscotch paper range Suellen had given me to use. I knew she had these letters in stock, so I wanted to use them in the kit. By folding a 7Gypsies black & white label over the top of the layout on the left and a strip 7Gypsies paper from their summer CHA release, it helped tie the elements together. I also added a black diecut flower under the journaling spot cut on the cricut.

The glimmermist colour is oriental poppy.....it is my favourite glimmermist colour at the moment! Seems to go with a whole lot more than I thought it would.....

for all your lovely comments, yes I have been thoroughly spoilt this year! When Kerry & I told Pete he was now "world famous" I was silently hoping this might save my skin......as I hadn't asked his permission to post his poetry.....but when I posted it I was still feeling happy about him sitting down and writing this especially for me....thanks again Pete!

I don't often watch TV (prefer to be in my scrap room) so grabbed a piece of paper.....Glitz Love Nest Floral to cut out while watching a movie the other night. Found some photos by accident as I was flicking through my box that seemed to work....and in a short time another layout is finished.....at a cost of approx $5.90! We really can make scrapbooking as inexpensive or as expensive as we want.

 
 It is simple....the background paper I cut into 1/3 & 2/3 then flipped over the larger piece, cut a strip off the floral paper to cover the join and bring in the yellow, added a paper border, a tag for the journaling, some net, a Heidi Swapp pink mirror sml birdie & clear heart. To finish I added a little sparkle with distress stickles on the pink part of the flower.

This layout happened by accident

as I was cleaning up my desk; I realised this photo had been lying around for far too long....this happening in about half an hour....just need to use up my stash.

 

I didn't use any patterned paper so that didn't help empty my scrap bucket, however I am now finished with those felt flowers and the container is in the bin!
Five finished layouts in 2 days with two others partly done.....one I need to print some more photos for, the other I need to take another photo to help add more information to the journaling.

My working Life....

Happy to have this one in my album! It has been to crop night with me and sitting in a tray on my desk partly finished for along time. Tidying up two nights ago I thought, as the year draws to an end I need to remember and reflect on my word to live by for 2010  ' to DO" - get this finished Lyn was playing a symphony in my head!

 

The 7 Gypsies tags I have been saving for this project.....when new ones arrived in the Store I would add them to my stash.....some are 5 years old! The other products are all from the Pink Paislee Queen Bee range except the black velvet letters (love these) which are MME Lush.

Making the most of the wet days.....

in my scrap-room means another layout complete and in Bevan's album. I have really only just started his, so very keen to get more pages filled.

 
This layout started out to be last years Christmas page...but when I saw the colours in the photos of his Dad's 80th birthday and looked again at the torn page I had stitched into the middle I changed tack....I think I will change the position of the clock before glueing the loose pieces down.

Next I will make January's birthday cards while Bevan is playing around welding something out in the garage..then we are off in the sunshine for a walk on the beach.

Halloween page....

 
I wanted to just create one layout of halloween for my album, and couldn't make my photos work by simply cropping, so the new machine at Hanafins let me choose smaller options printed onto an 8x10" sheet. This allowed me to use the 6 photos I had chosen and still have plenty of room for some strip journaling, and embellishments. The cat bottom right is from Tim Holtz seasonal grungeboard pack, the witch is from Dusty Attic, both I have painted black. The tree with spiders and bats is a paper cut-out also from Dusty Attic. The paper is also Tim Holtz.

To achieve the journalling strips, I created a text box in Microsoft Word, coloured the background black and chose white for my text colour (you may have to chose no-fill in the older version), printed onto cardstock and handcut with scissors. Font is 2Peas Barefoot Professor.
