A minibook for my niece....

Here's a few pics of the latest project I have just finished working on....A minibook for my niece's birthday of her favourite horse Katie. I purposefully kept it simple as she loves to write and draw, so I wanted her to make it her own by adding all her own personal touches.

I took this series of photos when I visited her in Cambridge last year and knew straight away what I was going to do with them as soon as I saw the BoBunny Timepiece Villa paper range. Other products used: book board I made the covers with; zutter machine & wires; BEST word is from an old K&C set of adhesive Wood Block Words; kraft cardstock; luggage label tags; 7Gypsies foldover stickers & label stickers in classique brun, Savannah tags & frame stickers, pockets, and word labels; Tim Holtz journalling tickets.

 

I added fold out pages, pocket pages to add other memorabilia into, pages of lines paper at the end of the book for her to write what happens next and and left bank pages for her drawings. After this photo was taken I embellished the wire on the cover with a charm & tag attached.

I am honoured to have such talented artists I call friends....I am still drooling over all these layers of shabby goodness!

 
They had been having fun creating without me  :( however I get to keep this amazing journal so Kerry, Jackie, Joy & Trish you are forgiven! Such a special start to my birthday this year.....bet you want to see inside too!!

I am so grateful to have a bunch of amazing women who are my close friends.....mostly thanks to scrapbooking! What a lucky girl I am. This craft has given me so much more than telling my story, our history & my family's.....(see tomorrow's posting!) 
Aside from loving the creative process...Friendships made and connecting with other like-minded women, is the part I love the most.

Finished Advent calendars....

 
What a fun day constructing the calendars and decorating them, saturday was....here is Barbara's finished one.....I love that you ladies chose a different colourway to mine, each personalising them by using the paper differently.

Enjoy having them in your homes for family/guests to sample the treats for each day of December and each year thereafter.

 

 

Felt creative last night.....

 
 
I used one piece of Collections cuttlebug chipboard, a window frame set out of a pack, and a Dusty Attic decorative flourish on the top. I painted the frame firstly with white gesso to add some thicker areas that cannot be achieved with paint, painted then started decorating. I used collections papers, an old K&C dictionary paper, muslin, Collections little girl, old 7Gpsies watch pieces which I painted to look like window catches...the words I typed using an Autumn Leaves font mounting onto white core card. I white washed all the papers too....

I am giving this away, so wanted it to stand to be visible daily. I covered the back with vintage music paper and made a covered stand for it to lean on.....works really well. I was quite pleased with the result!
