Founders Book Fair begins today....

The week long annual book fair started today....I am fairly certain a week long pass only costs $5, so worth that for several visits, as books are added to the tables daily!  

I donate any books I have finished reading each time I visit the fair, saving a special trip, knowing it will help fill up a space I have made.

It's a place with a lovely atmosphere just to wander, stop and have a coffee, look around at the museum buildings, take a mini train trip and check out the local artisan stores operating...

I usually take home a basket full of old books, manuscripts and music books. Can't wait to see what treasures I find this weekend....

First frost this morning.....

Winter is officially here! There was some white frost on the deck this morning....the 2nd May....always glad when they start later than the previous year! We have had such a mild glorious autumn...

The mix of yesterday's heat and overnight cooler temperature.....love autumn here in the valley....

Tools, Tools.....we love our tools,

I certainly love especially my pink handled crop-o-dile and couldn't part with this helper, but do you have some in your scrap room that are surplus to requirements?? Or you have bought a new tool that is multi-purpose and made another in your stash redundant?? I have several that I don't use much any longer and it got me thinking about having a place other than trade-me to find a new owner for them....

So I am going to make a photo-album of "SH tools for sale" and invite you to join me in adding yours to it also. All you need to do is send me a photo with the $$ amount you would like which I will add to the photo.....and when someone enquires I will pass their email onto you to do the deal. Do you think this could work??

It's been way too long....

since my last post!! Much has happened in this time.....mid October last year I started working 3 days a week as a pharmacy technician (after many years absent) so I have loads of learning in front of me (using the other side of my brain not the creative part that has been active for so long); we had the worst flooding in NZ's urban history localised in the Nelson region mid-December & Christmas and the New year have been and gone along with the first month of 2012. I hope none of you were affected with the bad weather prior to Christmas, you all had a fabulous time with family & friends over the holiday break and now children are well settled into the school routine once again.

I have been settling into my new routine at work and home. In the beginning it was so tiring and meant that some of my favourite things to do like blogging and scrapping had temporarily been put on the back-burner.....but now I have my old energy back to put into TSS and the other things I want to do.....yeah!

Tomorrow I will be giving you some exciting new, so call back to see what that is!

 

It's nice to be back.....

Being off line for one week was bad enough, however three weeks I didn't cope at all well with......it made me dwell on how much I use and rely on technology. In my generation, we have sent hand-written letters for many years so I had at least that to fall back on or I picked up the telephone......I keep thinking how much anxiety this must produce in the young generation when it happens to them. That instant contact is gone, it is all they know.

For me I LOVE having the contact with all my friends around the globe so easily but I would be OK to write letters or postcards more often if I needed too! Finding mail in the letterbox is such a joyful thing.....and part of why I write to others now and again. And another reason I love Christmas time so much....have you finished sending your xmas mail? Mine cards will get posted this coming week.

Long weekend is over....

The All Blacks had a nerve racking win...thank goodness; the weather was a mixed bag;  we managed some down time;I had to buy a new fridge as the door on our old one has a mind of it's own sometimes popping open; I got photos developed but I didn't get the project I was working on finished or stock loaded onto the blog. Yesterday the sun beckoned me outdoors into the garden instead.....

So I have decided to open the house for sales again in a couple of weeks time....Saturday 5th November 3:30-6:30pm or on sunday 6th november 11-4:30pm.

The Advent Calendar class is on that Saturday 5th November from 9:30-4pm for those of you who wish to join us....there will be three different colour options and two different insert options for $110 includes lunch & kit.

Over the weekend....

I will be loading information about the last two classes for the year....plus updating stock lines. Lots of those little things we love to use, have arrived like Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy crackle, glossy accents, there are templates & Christmas papers. There are several more orders due in too.

Plus I will load a little project I have nearly finished about, how I am feeling starting a new part time job.
